The GATCOM group was created in 2006 by a small group of young researchers that were with the department of Physics and Computer Architecture of the Miguel Hernandez University. From its beginnings the main research lines were around the efficient image and video coding methods and the way the encoded media is delivered as safe as possible to the destination traversing error-prone networks like those based in wireless technologies. Currently, the active research lines are the following ones:
- Image and video coding.
- Quality of service for media delivery in wireless networks.
- Wireless sensor networks.
- Parallel Computing: Application optimization.
- Design of hardware accelerators based on FPGAs.
